This Friday, October 22, Château Westmount and its team will have the great honor of being awarded the medal of the National Assembly of Quebec for all the efforts made during the pandemic.

Ms. Pilian, Executive Director, will receive this honor on behalf of the team members from Jennifer Maccarone, Member of Parliament for Westmount-Saint-Louis, at Château Westmount.

The ceremony will take place at 10:30 am. The number of participants will be limited due to sanitary measures. It is therefore possible that the lobby will not accessible for visitors between 10:00 and 11:30.

This recognition is addressed to family members, residents, and employees. It is your support that has allowed us to move forward and deal with this pandemic.

We thank you very much for your cooperation and support.

We would like to remind all visitors that the presentation of a valid vaccination passport is now mandatory to access the centre.

We would also like to take this opportunity to advise you that since children under the age of 12 can not be vaccinated, they cannot visit at this time.

Thank you for your cooperation.

We are pleased to announce that we have achieved a 100% vaccination rate among our employees.

We can assure our residents and families that there will be no impact or service breakdown as of October 15th.

We would also like to remind visitors that the “vaccination pass” will be mandatory to enter the Château from October 15th.

Thank you and have a good day

In anticipation of the ministerial decree that will require employees of the health network to have a complete vaccination to provide services, we ask all families who employ private sitters to send us their proof of vaccination.

People who have not received two doses of vaccine will no longer be authorized inside the C.H.S.L.D. Château Westmount as of October 15, 2021.

In addition, in accordance with the directives of the Quebec Ministry of Health, visitors must also present their vaccination passports to access the facility.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Every cloud has a silver lining. This adage is taking on its full meaning at this time. With the passage in the green zone of the island of Montreal, we received new directives from the Ministry of Health (MSSS). Henceforth:

  • Visitors will have access to common areas inside the facility.
  • We can accommodate a higher number of visitors. This is increased to four (4) people at the same time (including the resident). So, 3 visitors. We must limit this number because of the limited space and the obligation to keep a minimum distance between people.
  • It will be possible to accompany a resident to the dining room. But since you cannot remove your mask, you will not be able to consume food.
  • Training will no longer be mandatory to have access inside the facility. However, we will continue to offer hand hygiene training and strongly invite family members to attend.

Some measures will remain in place:

  • WEARING A MASK REMAINS MANDATORY AT ALL TIMES. INDOORS AND OUTDOORS
  • The penthouse remains closed for now. We have renovation work that needs to be done there. We will notify you when access is restored.
  • All packages will need to be disinfected at the reception.
  • Visitor registration remains mandatory upon arrival. You must provide a telephone number where Public Health can reach you in the event of exposure to the virus.

Thank you all for your patience and cooperation.

And do not forget…. KEEP YOUR MASK AT ALL TIMES DURING YOUR VISIT TO US.

Following the new deconfinement measures that will allow more people to access the rooms of the residents, we announce the end of the visits to the Oasis. The last booking date will be June 6, 2021.

Thank you all for the cooperation and understanding you have shown us.

Finally, some good news. Deconfinement measures are starting, so here are the changes that affect caregiver visits:

It is now allowed to leave the Château with the residents for short walks in the surroundings or in the garden. Wearing a mask remains mandatory for visitors and is highly recommended for residents who can tolerate it.

As of June 7th (when Montreal “switched” to an orange zone) the number of caregivers will increase to 4 per resident and two people will be able to visit the resident in his room at the same time. Wearing PPE remains mandatory, but the visor will no longer be required.

For now, visitors that are going on the living environments (floors) still only have access to the resident’s room.

We are hoping to be able to announce more good news in the near future.

Following Prime Minister Legault’s announcement on May 18, 2021, several of you have contacted us to find out what new measures will be put in place.

Ms. Blais’s press release gives a lot of hope to family members with respect to the easing of the measures in place.

We are currently awaiting Health Ministry guidance that will clarify the new measures to be deployed. These guidelines should be communicated to us today or tomorrow.

We will keep you informed as soon as we have evaluated these measures and are ready to implement them at Château Westmount. We are confident that we will be able to provide you with some good news by the end of the week.

Thank you for your patience.

Hooray! We finally have some news. The second dose for our residents will be administered around April 26. We are collaborating with the CIUSSS and we will keep you informed as soon as we have more news.

Our residents will all receive Moderna or Pfizer vaccines as these are the ones that were administered during the first dose. Interestingly, since these two vaccines are made on the basis of messenger RNA, they are interchangeable. There is therefore no negative effect to receiving either one of them during the second dose.

As far as employees are concerned, as of this morning, those who did not yet have access to their first dose will be able to register to receive it. Until now, only employees who provided direct services to residents were eligible.

We do not have statistics to provide on the vaccination rate of employees, but we are compiling the data.

Following the vaccination of our residents, we decided to allow significant caregivers the opportunity to visit residents in their rooms.

However, we must always ensure the safety of our residents and our employees. To do so, there will be several conditions that will have to be respected.

  1. Only significant individuals will be able to take advantage of this privilege.
  2. A maximum of 2 significant persons per resident will be allowed.
  3. Only one caregiver at a time will be able to visit.
  4. Prior training on hand hygiene and the wearing of PPE will need to be followed before the start of the visits.
  5. A questionnaire regarding the presence of symptoms will need to be answered upon arrival of the caregiver for EVERY visit.
  6. The wear of masks and PPE will need to be respected at all times during the visit.
  7. Caregivers will only have access to the resident’s room. Common areas will not be accessible to them.
  8. Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in the revocation of the visitation privilege.

No caregiver who has symptoms, who has been in contact with a positive person in the last 14 days, who returns from travel within the last 14 days, or who has tested positive in the last 10 days will be admitted.

You can sign up for ICP training by filling out the following form:

The permitted access hours will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the evening.

Please note that these restrictions do not apply to members of a resident that is receiving end-of-life care.
