Following yesterday’s announcements by the Quebec Minister of Health, we would like to clarify the situation.

What hasn’t changed:

  1. Wearing a mask remains MANDATORY at all times.
  2. Tours are limited to 1 person at a time for a maximum of two per day.
  3. Visitors only have access to the resident’s room.
  4. The vaccination passport is still mandatory and will remain so until March 14.

What has changed:

Residents can now leave the Château for temporary leave. On the other hand, we suggest that the resident wears a mask when going outside.

As soon as further restrictions are lifted by the government, we will notify you immediately. You can consult Quebec’s government site for more details information.

The week went well. In the latest tests done, no new positive cases have been revealed. Only 2 people remain in isolation, and both are asymptomatic and are expected to complete their isolation next week.

We must retest as precautionary measures all residents not affected on the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th floor next Monday. Afterward, we will be able to undertake the disinfection of the affected floors.

Please note that as of next Monday, visitors will be offered a surgical mask (blue) and that PPE will no longer be necessary if no new cases are detected.

Thank you all for your support and collaboration.

The peak of the wave seems to have passed at Château Westmount, thanks to the efforts of employees, residents, and family members. A big thank you to all.

Tomorrow the 13th we will reopen our doors to visitors. However, it will be necessary to respect certain rules:

  1. Only 1 visitor per day can come to the center. A maximum of 4 different visitors are allowed in total.
  2. Wearing a mask is MANDATORY AT ALL TIMES.
  3. You may have to wear some PPE depending on which unit you are going to visit.
  4. Visitors only have access to the resident’s room.
  5. To respect the curfew, visitors must leave no later than around 21:00.
  6. Visitors must present proof of adequate vaccination.
  7. Visitors with flu-like symptoms, COVID, or gastroenteritis will not be admitted.

Anyone who does not comply with these conditions will be expelled from the centre and their visiting privilege will be revoked.

We have had a few positive cases during prevalence testing, but we are heading in the right direction. Several people asked how periods of isolation were assessed. Here is a brief summary.

Positive resident:

10 days of isolation from the onset of symptoms or positive test result if asymptomatic. Isolation is lifted on day 11 if the resident has not had any symptoms for at least 48 hours. If the resident still has symptoms on day 10, we keep them in isolation until they disappear + 2 additional days

Resident exposed:

14 days of isolation from the beginning of the date of isolation of the last positive resident in the living environment.

The official end of the outbreak:

28 days after the start of the isolation date of the last positive resident of the living environment.

Hopefully, this helps to better understand Thank you all for your support and collaboration.

During the weekend we carried out several prevalence tests on living environments. We had only one additional positive resident on the 5th. In addition, all residents of the 2nd who tested positive have completed their isolation period.

As a precautionary measure, we must keep the other residents of this living environment in isolation for 14 days and retest them according to a pre-established schedule.

Still no cases in the 4th and no new ones in the 3rd. Unfortunately, we have to announce a death related to COVID-19. We wish to convey our condolences to the family. Our thoughts are with them.

We will keep you informed of the results of the other tests that will take place this week.

Thank you all for your support and collaboration.

During the holiday season, we did several prevalence tests, and some residents came out positive. However, only 1 person has symptoms. All the others are asymptomatic.

The same goes for employees. Although we have some employees at home, we have not had a service breakdown and all care continues to be given as usual.

The good news is that we are beginning to complete the isolation periods for the first people affected. This week, the majority of the residents and the employees will have completed their 10 days of isolation.

We continue to screen the affected floors as a precaution every 3 days. We currently have:

2nd floor: 14 active cases

3rd floor: 5 active cases

5th floor: 2 active cases

And yes, No case on the 4th floor. Prevention measures are still in place in this living environment to reduce the risk of contamination.

Thank you for your cooperation.

The COVID-19 outbreak continues. We now have 13 positive residents on the 2nd  and one new on the 3rd  floor.

Yesterday the residents of the 3rd and 4th floors were tested. only 1 resident came back positive. The 5th floor is screened today.

The families of residents who tested positive were contacted by our staff.

The good news: everyone is doing well.  The vast majority of residents who have received 3 vaccines do not present any symptoms.

As a precautionary measure, given the large number of cases in the community, we will confine the entire establishment.

Starting tomorrow, visits will be suspended for all residents until January 12 inclusively.  (This includes private sitters)

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause but we prefer to limit contacts for a short period of time and allow us to control the spread of the virus.

We will keep you informed of developments.

Again, COVID-19 hits us in December. We must announce a new outbreak that began on December 24 on the 2nd  floor.

As of Today, we have 3 positive residents and 2 employees. All of them are doing well and only the resident who initially tested positive is symptomatic.

The analysis of the situation seems to demonstrate an entry vector that does not come from our employees.

Stricter measures are now in effect for the 2nd.

Visits are suspended for the 2nd floor.

PPE is now required for workers on the 2nd  floor and they cannot be moved to other floors.

Follow-up screening tests will take place in the coming days. We will keep you informed of developments. The positive side of all this is that almost all residents and employees are triply vaccinated. This reduces the risk of transmission and complications.

We remind you that WEARING A MASK THAT COVERS THE NOSE AND MOUTH AND THAT GOES BELOW THE CHIN IS MANDATORY. Combined with proper handwashing, these measures represent the best prevention against transmission.

Thank you and have a happy holiday season.

Following Premier Legault’s announcement, we are under the obligation to tighten the measures in place for visitors and residents in order to reduce the risk of the outbreak of  COVID-19 and the new variant.

We must now ask residents to wear masks when they leave their rooms.

  • Visits will now be limited to 1 person at a time for a maximum of 4 different people per day. This includes private sitters.
  • Visitors will no longer have access to the common areas. They will only have access to the resident’s room and lobby. This includes private sitters
  • All visitors must be doubly vaccinated. This includes children. Visits by children under the age of 5 will not be permitted until further notice.

WEARING A MASK REMAINS MANDATORY AT ALL TIMES.

People who do not respect this instruction will have their visiting privileges withdrawn. We have had several visitors who have violated this guideline. We are sorry but we need to be firmer in the future to avoid another outbreak.

These new directives enter effect on Monday, December 20, 2021

In these difficult times, we believe it is necessary to renew the promise we made to you when you or your loved one moved into Château Westmount.

We are present 24 hours a day, seven days a week to bring not just quality care, but also human warmth, comfort, and for family members, peace of mind. To achieve this, we not only rely on dedicated and heartful employees and also very competent, but we rely on our most important partner…. you.

It is by being able to establish common goals that we will be able to meet the unique expectations and needs of each resident. We are proud to proclaim loud and clear that our care is personalized because we firmly believe it. Our living environments reflect this commitment, and we can easily see it by looking at the smiles and fulfillment of our residents.

Some of you may have read the article published on December 11th, 2021, in the  Gazette newspaper. We are sad to see the interpretation of some of the experiences of the spouse of one of our former residents. Grief is a process that takes us in various directions. Our thoughts are with him and his family. We have always had an open approach with families and residents, and we are available to answer questions or dissatisfactions.

We are proud of the care and services we provide, and we suggest to families who wish it, the installation of a camera. If you have any questions regarding legal limitations or if you need help with installing one,  do not hesitate to contact us.

If you would like to know more about our end-of-life care or if you would like to receive information on the accompaniment of bereaved caregivers, please contact the nurse of the living environment of the resident.

For those who would like to comment on the article, we invite you to contact The Gazette via their comments section.

We wish everyone a happy holiday season filled with peace and health.

It is with great pride that Ms. Zara Pilian received on behalf of the employees of the C.H.S.L.D. Château Westmount the medal of the National Assembly of Quebec which was presented to her by Ms. Maccarone, Member of Parliament for Westmount-Saint-Louis this past October 22nd.

The medal was awarded for the efforts and achievements of the entire C.H.S.L.D. Château Westmount team during the pandemic. Especially during the first wave, where no cases were recorded.

Even during the outbreak during the 2nd wave, employees got involved to ensure their presence and even increase the number of resources on the affected floors without resorting to outside help.

Even today, the C.H.S.L.D. Château Westmount is distinguished by the involvement of its employees by posting a vaccination rate of 100% among them.

The C.H.S.L.D. Château Westmount would like to thank all its employees as well as the residents and their family members without whom, these exceptional results, would not have been achieved.
