Yesterday we screened all the residents from the unaffected floors.

The Jewish hospital where we send the tests still has difficulty transmitting the results following the cyberattack against them. However, we were always informed immediately by phone when we had a positive result.

We are therefore confident, although we will have to wait for the results by fax before officially announcing, that we have no other case in the facility.

We will bring together positive residents at the Oasis. We have created a temporary zone for COVID. These transfers will take place as soon as the area is fully equipped, and staff has been designated (probably today).

Screening of remaining employees (not in contact with the 3rd  floor’s resident) will take place on Thursday and Friday.

We would like to thank the Château’s teams for their magnificent work and immeasurable efforts.

We would also like to thank you for your patience and cooperation. We know that these are difficult and stressful times. We do our best to keep you informed in a transparent manner regarding all developments but our actions are primarily for the physical and psychological well-being of our residents.

As a result, our staff may be less available to answer your questions and phone calls. We apologize for not being able to offer you the same diligence you are used to.

First, the good news is that we only have 5 cases among our residents on the 3rd floor.

We have a total of 5 employees who have tested positive. All affected people (residents and employees) are doing well.

We have our prevention protocol in place, and we are escalating the measures.

After testing all the contact” employees, we are currently screening residents on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th floors.

The remaining employees will then be screened.

When we have a more comprehensive picture of the contamination, we will start cohorting the positive residents together. We are lucky to have only private rooms in our institution.

We’ll keep you up to date on developments,

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

We currently have 5 confirmed cases among our residents and two employees.

All cases are currently on the 3rd floor. Therefore, this floor is in quarantine.

Yesterday all the residents of the 3rd were tested. Having only 5 positive cases is then good news, as much as this can be.

As a safety precaution, we will screen all residents on Monday and Tuesday.

While we await the results of these tests, we must close the common areas. The dining room and garden are therefore inaccessible to residents.

This also involves cancelling visits.

We are working closely with CIUSSS to contain this outbreak.

We will keep you informed of developments as soon as we have more information.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Unfortunately, we have the first positive case of COVID-19 on the 3rd floor. As of this morning, we have put in place precautionary measures to avoid the risk of spread.

All 3rd-floor residents were tested today and we are currently screening employees who have worked on this floor.

For now, until we receive the results, the residents of the 3rd floor will have to stay in their rooms. We should get the results by tomorrow.

A hot zone has been established on the 3rd floor and a team of employees dedicated only to this area (nursing and housekeeping) as well as dedicated equipment such as a housekeeping trolley were deployed.

Group activities will cease temporarily this week and will be replaced by targeted activities on the floors.

The visits, being in a supervised environment, will be maintained for the time being.

We will keep you up to date on development as soon as we have more information.

Although the Montreal area has gone red we will keep in place the visits at the Oasis, however, in connection with the recommendations of Public Health, we will have to reduce the number of visitors to one (1) per resident per visit as of October 1st, 2020.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you for your understanding.

We have all heard that Montreal is going orange and, no, it is not about our famous traffic cones. But what does this mean for our residents, our employees and for you?

Hello!

We have extended the booking from the visits calendar until December 21, 2020. This will allow us to plan the holiday schedule.

We also have modified the videoconferencing schedule. From now on, the videoconference will last 45 minutes, the same length as the visits. Don’t forget that a maximum of three connections can take place at the same time.

Videoconferences already reserved in the previous format (20 minutes) will be kept on the schedule.

Remember that if you have a cold, gastro, or COVID symptoms you cannot show up for visits.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Yes, autumn is upon us. We understand that it will be difficult to hold the visits in the garden.

To remedy this, we have redesigned the Oasis to accommodate families’ visits.

Starting Monday, September 14, you will have to cross the garden and enter through the side of the Oasis. We have also dedicated a toilet that will be reserved for visitors.

The same rules will continue to apply, and visitors will not be allowed to walk inside the Castle.

Thank you all for your collaboration.

Today was the beginning of the visits to the garden. We can say that it has been a rewarding experience for all.

Some people have asked us why we put a 45-minute limit. It is because we must disinfect all the facilities with a peroxide spray.

The video shows one of our maintenance workers disinfecting one of the regular tables (there are six places to disinfect every hour).

Thank you for your understanding.

Finally, this is the long-awaited moment, we will open the garden for visits from family members starting Monday, June 15, and this, seven days a week (7/7). On the other hand, there will be rules that you will have to follow.

  1. As with video conferencing, you will need to register in advance via an online booking schedule, the time slots for visits are 45 minutes. We must allow 15 minutes between each visit to disinfect the tables.
  2. A maximum of two visitors per resident will be accepted, in order to respect the social distance required by Public Health;
  3. Hand washing and the wearing of the mask and gloves that will be given to you at the entrance to the garden is mandatory;
  4. There will be no contact with residents;
  5. If you bring gifts, you will have to leave them at the main entrance for disinfection, they will be given to the resident later;

You must understand that our residents are still at risk. Having had no contamination inside our walls, they do not have antibodies to protect them. We have therefore developed these measures to allow the families and our residents to be closer together without sacrificing their health.

In addition, since the visits will allow up to six (6) families at the same time, we will have to reduce the number of videoconferencing. We will only have one tablet assigned to Zoom conferences (so 1 employee) per day during the week. In order not to penalize anyone, we will cancel the meetings already booked for June 15 and subsequent dates. Those who still wish to take advantage of this mode of communication will have to re-book a date on the calendar.
